Hello GmaKelly here to talk about Digital Marketing Strategies.
Digital Marketing is a Umbrella term for all Online Marketing efforts (ie: Search Engines, Social Media, Email, Online Ads, etc).
Digital marketing strategies are routes to fulfill digital marketing goals. Marketers usually confuse tactics with strategies and that is one of the main reasons why digital marketing strategies fail.
What is a Digital Marketing Strategy
Digital Marketing Strategies are paths businesses take to accomplish specific goals. These can be described in 6 layers:
Goals — A Goal should be measurable, ie: increased traffic, more sales, larger reach, etc.
Device - Desktop, Laptop, Mobile Tablet or any other digital gadget
Purpose - Brand Awareness, Brand Building or Product Awareness, Increase Sales, etc.
Customer Profile - Demographics of the Customers
Location - City, County, Countries, Continent, or Global
Time Frame for ROI - (ROI — Return on Investment) — Should be realistic with the expectation it could take a year to see end results.
Strategy vs Tactics
Stratgies are the Paths the Marketer takes to achieve goals. Tactics are the Steps they take to carry out the Strategy.
Strategy is the Plan, Tactics are the Actions
For Example: Digital Strategy is to increase user participation on Social Media by posting at least 5 times a day. The Tactic might say to Post to Facebook between 3–5 PM and on Twitter between 6–7 PM.
A Digital Marketing Strategy encompasses one Goal, with a Measureable end result. Trying to accomplish Multiple Goals confuse the issue and No Goals leaves you with no direction.
One Strategy, One Goal, One Tactic, One End Result
Reminds of a recent post I wrote: An Audience of One. Check it out, it fits right in here.
If you Engage an Audience of One, Create a Message for that Audience of One, and have One Call To Action directed at that same Audience of One, would your message go further? Instead of trying to be All Things to All People and Answer all the Questions on a Topic in One Post.
You end up with this:
One Strategy, One Goal, One Tactic,
Audience of One, One Message,
One Call to Action, One End Result
Strategy & The Target Audience
Digital Strategy should be centered around your Target Audience. Research your Target Audience, determine what they’re wants, needs, and desires are. What is the Question they need you to answer?
Content marketing and search engine Marketing strategies should focus more on the keywords and content whereas social media marketing, and email marketing should focus more user trends and engagement.
What are the current Trends that affect your Target Audience? What is the Newest, Hottest thing out there? What are they talking about? Who are they talking about?
Failing to monitor Trends could be a game changer. If you don’t know what is Trending how can you know what the question is?
Final Thoughts
The Strategy of One is an interesting concept and worth further testing. A Digital Marketing Strategy can simplify your Online life in so many ways. Instead of wondering around out there aimlessly, you have a direction, a destination.
You know where you need to go to find your Audience and deploy your Tactics. You know whats Trending and to attract the attention of your Target Audience. Your Strategy is outlined, Your Goals are measurable, Your Tactics are in place, and Your Audience is waiting.
Take off and have a great tiime in everything you do, it makes life so much easier.
Leave a question or comment below, What do you think about the “Stategy of One”, Is it doable, is it a possible Path to follow, a Strategy to develop? I look forward to our Conversation.
Thank you sharing your time with me.
